Studying Computer Science at the University of Washington

Background

I was born in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, where I completed my elementary, middle, and high school education. In high school, I was passionate about math, physics, and science, participating in various olympiads.. I graduated from Sant High School in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia and came to the United States in 2019 to pursue higher education.

Academics

I’m currently pursuing my education at the University of Washington, Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science and Engineering. During my undergraduate years, I hope to get involved in school as much as possible. I was told that having both research and internships experiences are vital. Because some students find passion in doing researches, or consider grad school in the future, it is usually recommended to have an research experience in school even they decide to go to work at industry after graduation.

Also, they say having a feel of one start up culture and one big corporation culture usually helps students a lot at job after graduation. Thus, I thought having at least one research experience, as well as two internship experiences before graduation would serve me well.

Right now, I’m interested in doing research in Software Development and Programming Languages for two reasons. (1) The concepts will be most transferable to industry, (2) I think finding ways to make a software more reliable and fast would be fascinating!

They say that if a student is interested in many things, it often means they aren’t truly focused on any. However, while I aim to concentrate on one area, I also want to explore various fields. Once I take Machine Learning, and UW CSE 400 level courses (OS, Complier, and networks), I hope to combine these concepts with Software Engineering.In the future, I may to dive into Robotics, Machine Learning, Human-Centered Design and Engineering, as well as Operating Systems.

This is where I usually reside during a school year, The Allen Building Dungeon.

Hobbies

As a hobby, I play musical instrument mainly bass guitar and piano. Also, I usually go on a hiking, or spend time cooking.
